engine casings S bolts + head bolts & nuts

Post by GT500Andy »

Perhaps it’s been asked before but unable to find it with the "search" was the engine casings S bolts + head bolts & nuts galvanized or nickel plated? Want to get the old rusty one redone but there to far gone to see what it was!

Hi,
I'm in the process of rebuilding GT380 motor, and just had the bolts bright zinc plated. They are definately 'S' bolts, so would think they are on the 500.

Displaying photos here is not straightforward - you have to host the photos elsewhere and then link to them from here - many folks in the US use Photobucket, but there are lots of options. There was a thread on this forum (I forget where exactly) that covered this. Basically once you have the photos hosted, then you insert a link into the post - the format is:

For example - if you right click on the image below you can see the link info by checking 'Properties' - and you just add the 'img' front and back ends as required.

Hi Andy,

Bare with me on this, hopefully you should see a photo of my GT380 crankcases, mid rebuild with replated bright zinc 'S' bolts.

Hi Andy,

Not a very good photo but I had mine zinc plated with the "bronze" type finish.
