Alright, here is my next mission. Replacement ignition has been conquered. I priced OEM air filters, about $49.00! That is crazy for two foam rubber socks!!! So my basic plan is a new metal box to hold a pleated filter with a foam sock on it for a large lawn tractor engine. They are about the same CC size, so air flow should be about the same. Below that box will be another where two straight tubes will connect the carbs to with the tube extensions inside just like in the rubber boot now. So any 'ram' effect is still present, about the same surface area for filtering, hopefully about the same 'restriction' of airflow as the OEM filters with a big reduction in cost. It will be worth the effort just to find out how successful this backyard engineering can be. Sometimes you have to think out of the box......
