is it correct that the re5 rims were alluminium,
was that an option or standard,
also are they a straight swop into the buffalo.

The RE5 rims were all aluminum, and they are interchangable with the buffalo. I have a set of Lester mags on my 76 RE that were on a 75 buffalo previous, with no mods. The RE is quite a porker, so I assume the alloy rims were to help in that regard. Cheers.

The aluminum rims found on the RE5 are not any significant weight saving over the steel rims found on the Buffalo. They are thick heavy items, unlike the modern aluminum alloy rims of today. Trust me on this as i have a set of them unlaced so i know what they weight.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

thanks guys
thanks guys you read my mind .
i am still waiting on parts from PM,
And my mind has been running through all sorts of permutations,
but a buddy has offered up the use of his bead blaster to give the cases a going over before i set to polishing them ,
so i should have something to occupie myself while i wait.
