T350 gas mileage

Post by kmil »

I took the T350 today for it's first good long run and guess what? I ran out of gas. I left the house with a half a tank and after 45 miles I found myself standing beside the road. That's about a gallon and a half of gas in 45 miles. What type of mileage should this bike be getting while riding at a moderate pace. I'm carefully breaking the engine in after a total rebuild so I wasn't thrashing it. Just wondering!! Thanks.

I think I get in the area of 30-35mpg on mine, but it heavily depends on the driving style.

Thanks for the response elbert. It looks like about 35 mpg is about all that I can expect. This thing reminds me of my Dodge hemi back in 1970. It would pass anything on the road but a gas station!

Now other's may correct me if I'm wrong...
Ride it hard!
I broke my engine in carefully after a total rebuild, only to have the rings not seat properly, and of course I had to take apart again.
T200 (full restoration)
CL450 (on the go now)
T350 (sort of started)

Thanks for the response Odin, the bike seems to run better if I twist its ear a little bit. I never thought that the rings might not seat. I'll keep an eye on the plugs and everything else as best I can. I've heard many schools of thought on the break in procedure and I guess each has it's pro's and con's. I just want to get the bike running well and get it sold so I can move on to my racing bike. To many projects, not enough time or money. Talk to you later.
