Next month, we are going to Switzerland on my old GT380. You might remember my trip from Scotland to the Pyrenees before, this time I am aiming a little higher, quite literally. Having enjoyed my last bike holiday with my dad, I thought it would be nice do it again, but this time I’m bringing the missus too.
A trip through the Alps should give us plenty of entertainment.
The plan is:
Scotland to Newcastle by bike.
Newcastle to Amsterdam by ferry.
Amsterdam to Germany where we will have a 2-night stop.
Then back on the road again to Switzerland where we will meet Dad on his BMW K75 (he is travelling from the South of Spain) and then travel to Interlaken, where we will stay for 10 nights.
I doubt Gita (my 50yr old GT380) has ever been through such a trial. Two large adults and luggage over about 3000 miles, partly on some of the highest mountains in Europe. It promises to be an adventure. This time I will try not to lose my phone, complete with holiday photos on the central reservation of a motorway!
I will add pictures and more details later.

Sounds interesting! Stay safe and take a 'proper' camera too.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Alan, have you never been on holiday with a woman? They don’t leave luggage space for anything!

I do have a nice Zenit EM, but there won’t be any room for it. I’m trying to encourage the missus to pack lightly, but at our age we have to pack sufficient medication for over 2 weeks and one of us is a diabetic. That lot fills one small pannier already
