Hi. I am new here so I will state my background for context to my question:
Been riding dirtbikes my whole life (no official racing, purely recreational. Intermediate level). Started riding street a few years ago.
Have done two complete tear down & rebuilds. One being 92 RM125 an the second being 76 yam DT400 which was the more extensive one.
I have no welding background, but have the ability to pay a friend of a friend (welder by trade) for small weld jobs.
ANYWAY to my question-
I picked up a rough GT750 project. 72 frame with a 74+ motor.
Looking to do a front end swap as this seems to be a common upgrade on these bikes.
I hear people swap GS 750 or 850 front ends to these.. Is it as simple as a bearings kit? or is there welding/fabbing involved? I am looking as close to a bolt-on swap as I can get, still being too green for custom fabbing at the moment. But, as I mentioned, I can get a friend to weld if y'all think it is 100% worth it to get x y or z front end on this frame.
Any input is appreciated. thanks
What is the easiest front end swap for a GT-750?

Hi there
I’ve managed to fit a hayabusa front end in to my 550 frame with just new bearings
Allballs do a conversion chart for the bearings

Thanks Hawky. I have seen people use busa front ends as well, but had assumed that required fabrication. Good to know.
Did you also upgrade the swingarm & rear wheel to match the modern front?

I’m currently putting an sv650 swingarm and monoshock on so that will require more fabrication

Don’t rely on allballs at the moment they aren’t shipping to uk at the moment due to COVID
