T500K-----this debate has been mentioned many times.
just a thought can you not move the air box a little forward to the carbs by altering the brackets.
not looked at mine as yet.
with age rubber hose tend to shrink and hardened.
by moving it forward a little this would make it easier to fit???
what do you recon?
carb air box??

Re: carb air box??
Maybe. It would be useful to know what bike, what type of airbox and what the problem was.

Re: carb air box??
Cool thanks.
How are yours difficult to fit? Do the rubbers keep slipping off the carbs?

Re: carb air box??
the easiest ways to do it are: either buy a nice soft new airbox rubber or soften yours with a hot air gun. works wonders on old, hard rubbers, but don't go too mad with the heat. just get them so they're pliable enough to fit. i hate that job, even on the 250 it's bloody fiddly and difficult
cheers, dd.

Re: carb air box??
+1 on that. New ones are so much easier. Also make sure your clamps are correctly positioned before you tighten them. Elongating the holes on the airbox mounting points with a rats tail file may help move it forward sufficiently. But they can be a pain in the butt on most bikes. The more carbs you have, the harder they are to fit well.dollydog wrote: either buy a nice soft new airbox rubber or soften yours with a hot air gun.

Re: carb air box??
at 60 uk pound is a bit much for me.
one way or another I'll make them fit.
bought some winter green oil so I'll give that a try.
