On the new build T500 racer that my rider Gary May is building we have very slight play in the swinging arm. I would like to replace them with bronze or needle roller bushes but not seen any in the UK. Any leads appreciated.
is that the same gary may that used to be a good 250 rider? not seen him for a few years
i bought a set of needle rollers for my gt250, which should be the same size, but blowed if i can remember where i got them from - but it was england

Hi dollydog,
Gary May, one and the same. He has taken my Seeley T500 for several wins in the 500 Air Cooled class with CRMC. He is now building his own T500 race bike using standed frame and the s/arm bearings need replacing.
I order a set of bronze bushes from hard-to-find-parts for my T500 cafe build. Will be a few months before I start assembling the bike. So I’m interested in seeing how the bushes work out for you.
BAS (Bike Acquisition Syndrome) - too many bikes but have room for more

Hi jabcb,
I will post up some photos and how they installed when I get them.
hi zunspec, these are the needle rollers i use. numbers as follows, if it helps:
TA22307 TKO G JAPAN.
you need to mill about a quarter of a mm out of the swingarm to fit them though. i.d of swingarm is approx 28.5mm and o.d. of bearing approx 29mm. just in case you go that way in the future
nice to hear gary still racing - and winning. good lad
cheers, dd.

Thanks for the info. I would like needle roller bearings but I am going to keep it simple and go with hopefully a simple fit with the bronze bearings. I don't have the equipment, or skills, to ream out the s/arm by 0.5 mm
The bronze swinging arm bushes arrived in good time and looked to be of good quality. Installation was quite straight forward using a length of threaded bar through the arm to pull the bushes into place. The steel inner bearings slipped in with a light push which means the bronze bushes did not distort when they went into the s/arm. All in all decent value for money with hopefully a slightly more rigid installation compared to the std. fibre bushes.
