It has been a common practice to fill the combustion chamber with weld and then to re-machine to create centre plug heads with a proper squish band so if done correctly welding up a crack should be no problem. The hard part is to find a competent alloy welder who knows how to weld M/C parts and can re-machine the heads afterwards.
I know a motorcycle race engineer in Doncaster who could do the job (he could also convert them to centre plug ) or alternatively seek out a pair of replacement T/GT heads.
Cheers Geoff, looking closer can see it's run up the threads through the head.
Already spent a bit so might as well get some heads and get proper repairs if needed.
Heads are going around £50 each I can see but not sure!
They could still be repaired, and a good opportunity to make them into race heads at the same time . However I think sourcing replacement heads is the best way to go, £50/each is a realistic price. I might have a spare pair myself but I will have to check, gave a set away to a friend a while back so not totally sure.
