No-Name Gasket Set

Post by Coyote »

Needing the cylinder base gaskets and the head gaskets, I just went ahead and bought another set. It's always nice to have a few extra gaskets around -- especially the clutch cover gasket.. The gaskets just arrived. No name whatsoever on the package. Just a plain sheet of white cardboard backing. I think I have used these gaskets before. All gaskets are stenciled D & K. Does that mean anything to anybody? Other marks are NE, under that it says Non-Asbestos. They look just fine and made it through USPS without getting bent. Anyone familiar?

I have D&K under the clutch cover gasket on my GT550B. I know this because its sitting on my shed floor right now :-)

I chose to use genuine base and head gaskets. The aftermarket head gaskets that came in the D&K marked packet measured 0.9mm thick vs about 1.3mm Suzuki. It may not matter, but there it is.

Cheers,
Mike

These measure .050 (1.27mm) over the paper and .060 (1.52mm) over the center metal ring. Should be OK.

I used some gaskets for my 1963 superhawk, but they were t&k, ?, I also had a set that I believe where D& something ? cant remember but they were Korean or china knock off gaskets I found on ebay, and 1 set I ordered through a store cant remember the name , I didn't know they were Korean or china or whatever and I didn't think much about it, put the motor together and within a week I had a head gasket leak and a side cover leak, not sure if they were the same brand as yours but I will try and find the packaging they came in,,,,one set came in just a white card board like you described,,,but long story short I got a good head gasket and leak stopped , all the gaskets that came in that cheaper set have leaked   , and now I only get the name brand ones, just my experience, I did twice the work because I thought I got a good deal on gaskets,,,not saying yours will leak just giving you my experience ....
