OEM tool kit

Not the remakes that are available now. How much is missing and how much is wring? I know I am missing the wooden handle and a flat head screwdriver. I thought the original was double ended? The plug socket looks totally wrong. You would have to cut the frame in half to get it on the center plug. The pouch is shredded vinyl. This came with a 76 GT550.

Does anybody actually use these things? You would think with the overall quality of the bike, they could have done better in this area. Although I bought a new toolbox strap, I'll probably leave these on the shelf until the time comes to sell.

Well - admitting that I am a bit odd (my wife tells me that regularly ) with any bike I restore I make sure it has a full, as per original re-zinced tool kit. And the screw driver bits actually are useful, as they are JIS and not Phillips eh ? And for the GT750, the wrenches included in the kit are perfect for adjusting the clutch as nothing else quite fits as well. Have you also looked at what original, correct tool kits are going for on some makes of Japanese machines these days ? Check out the ones for a Honda CL77 or a Kawasaki H2 - they range from $130 to $400+ in USD if all original.

The resto world is a niche market and not for everyone - if you are doing up a special, cafe or especially a daily rider, then tools that you trust and are of better quality make more sense.

All fair points. I have a NOS tool set in my GT380. Never got it out since I hid it in there! didn't bother on the 750.
The irony is the only time the 380 broke, no tools would have helped (plastic timing gear). yet the 750 clutch adjuster has come loose twice and I've had to limp home making jerky clutchless changes. I did curse
Now I keep one allen key and a small adjustable spanner under the seat. Not got it out since. Life's not fair.
