What's Wrong with this Fender?
I was looking over photos of when I first got the bike home. I noticed the rear fender is WAY out of whack. I did notice the fender is tucked under the plastic inner fender. That's backward isn't it? Even at that, I don't think it will bring it down THAT much. All the bolts were in it as received. The rear most bolts were wrong, but they were in the right holes. Yes it's a stock 18" wheel.

I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

I believe that the US market rear mudguard (fender) is larger than other markets and stands out like that.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

[img][/img]Plastic fender IS on top of the steel as in the picture. Just looked at mine! About 5 inches from the tip of the fender, under the tail light/licence bracket, to the rear tire, with the bike on the center stand and chain adjusters out about half way.

Re: What's Wrong with this Fender?
The fender as Cliff said. Is suppose to go under the inner fender. If I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure the 380 rear fender has different mounting hole positions than the 550. I agree it doesn't look right. My guess is that it's from a 380.

It does look a bit different than the Suzuki brochure pic, but that might be due to the angle you took the pic at.

Re: What's Wrong with this Fender?
I first put my GT550 fender together under the inner fender, seemed like it wanted to go that way. I didn't like the look and swapped the fender to over. It didn't want to go at first but I drank a beer and then magically it fit that way. I like the more-even look of the wheel spacing.

Re: What's Wrong with this Fender?
You are also looking at it with the bike on the center stand, with the rear wheel completely unloaded, without a seat or side covers to fill in the open spaces.

I'm with Connor - think your fender is stock and properly positioned.
I've googled others GT550's and they look like yours.

Re: What's Wrong with this Fender?
Yours in right, Chrome fender should go under plastic inner fender. Does change some when the suspension is loaded.

Probably changes some when the owner is loaded as well.

Re: What's Wrong with this Fender?
I must confess I had more than one beer. I looked at my fender again last night and the inner fender was under the inner fender. I must have been drinking the good stuff -
