Oil Hose Retention

Post by Coyote »

Something makes no sense to me. 7 elaborate banjo fittings and then nothing... There are 6 fittings at the block and one at the oil pump inlet. Yet after all that precision and close tolerance work, the main hose at the oil tank is slip on and forget it. No means of retention whatsoever.. The heart of the bike and it just sits there with hopes that it doesn't fall off. I think the oil tank should have had a banjo fitting as well as opposed to a lick and a promise.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Theres a clip there as well to hold on the hose, see the GT750 for the item if not shown in the 550 parts.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

So it does show a spring clip. I never noticed that before because the 550's and 750 I've bought were missing that clip. I might even have one of those that will work.. I was contemplating using a wire.

That would work in a pinch. The difference is that after the pump, oil is pressurized and before thr pump, not so much. There's still gravity at work but at the tank a spring clip is quite sufficient.
