So - it's one of those nights. After installing my new check valves and running the bike (77 GT500), I see that the right-side line with the old valves isn't pumping. Just appears to be getting air in the line. Solid oil from where I primed it - but there had been air at the pump end. I get the brilliant idea that perhaps teh air is compressing enough not to open the valves and that I should reprime the line. Sure, no prob, easy peezy. Then I stripped the thread on the output of the pump when reinstalling. %^#&^$@%@ Pulle dit out and the banjo bolt had the threads from the pump still neatly wound around it's own threads. One step forward, two steps back.
So here are my questions arising form this wonderful situation...
1 - What is the thread on teh bottom of the oil tank? I would like to get a petcock/shutoff and wondering if I can do away with teh banjo and just get a petcock-style...
2 - Anyone ever used healy coils on their oil pump? I know about them but I've never actually used them. Generally I can always just tap it out one size, but with these banjp bolts, I'm not so lucky.
3 - Anyone have a pump for GT500 (T500) which they are willing to part with? I'm not looking for handouts - I'm happy to pay fair price for it. Considering some of the issues I've been having it would be ideal if it was known good, but I'll take just about anything that has the critical bits (housing, cam, left-thread bolt, etc).

Re: Sonnofa... Stripped Oil Pump
I've used a helicoil insert on one of the outlets on my pump with no problem. I just needed to disassemble the pump first to make sure I could get all the swarf from the drilling out first.
