I think MX bikes like CRs RMs YZs always ran /raced better with fresh 2 stroke packing not to tight IMO.

I do think stock Suz baffles used steal wire (rusted away over time) to hold packing but, if too tight less muffling. The heat tape does absorb too and last longer. I had sum ran out of packing so used it so how I know

Guys with chambers that are loud. Did you notice the diameter of the perf pipe seams too large? Or is it just me
I know there is a rule as to what size outlet (stinger) dia is to be.
If too large dia it it doesn't matter how much packing for always loud (unless it was much longer I suppose and thats just restriction too).

I had a set of loud pipes a while back and as experiment I put a smaller short tube as choke. It was quiter and did not seam to hurt performance. I did not leave for it was just a test and not designed to secure well.

I do have a pipe or two that are louder than I like.

Wife followed behind me today on my R5. She wasn't sure of direction thus I had to lead and she followed me. only had about 8 miles or so . i could see she was hanging way back. She was angry at how bad it was  That bike get pretty could mpg (>40  )

Did you roll up the windows deer and put AC on recirculation mode? I asked :P
On the way back she lead the way home

I do think direct injection used on very recent two stroke designs cures this issue of fuel short circuit. They still use some oil though. Wonder if it could pass DOT emission laws?
