Well, the battery is literally brand new. I bought it last weekend, trickle charged it for ~12hr, and put it in my bike. I didn't touch it for a few days because it was nasty outside, yesterday was the first nice day, so I changed the plugs and put it back together and started it.

So I am going to rule out that it was a bad battery. The previous battery (which is what was in it when this problem started) looked pretty new, too. I went ahead and changed it though (because exactly what you said) to make sure that wasn't the issue.

You're not listening. I bought a brand spanking new sealed battery for my 550 last year. I had the same exact symptoms as you. I pulled my hair out for a month, knowing damn well it wasn't the battery. I tried everything to fix the same issue. It wasn't until members on here gave me the same good advice I gave you to properly test the battery. It was then, I found that I had a dead cell in a battery that was 3 weeks old by running those tests. I got refunded what I paid for the battery as very good customer service. Stuck another new battery in it and it was golden from that point on. Trust me on this. It's not a guarantee, but batteries sit in warehouses for who know's how long and they are not properly maintained during this time period before we buy them. That's why you have to properly test the battery as I explained earlier. If you test or replace the battery. You can eliminate that and then move on to the charging components. Just like you, I pretty much shrugged off that advice. I'm glad I listened, not too much longer after that. I'm not being a smart ass, I'm giving you good advice to help you.

If you wait a few minutes did it start back up?

The electrical starter works?

Did you check gas cap vent?

Or, if tank not full of fuel (safety concern) just loosen gas cap.

Else, if this thing turns over with E-Start you should have energy for spark.

When it dies have a spare plug ready and see if it is sparking and both sides.

If it fires the spare plug no fuel my guess given best I understand what you wrote

If not vent, petcock may be blocked. Get a hose and hook it to petcock outlet (unhooked feed to carb) and see if you have fuel flowing.
