GT550 kickstart return (spring)
fellow wrenchers. I did my first engine rebuild (new crank, seals, clutch) last weekend and after reassembling the entire bike, the kickstarter is not returning. since the spring is so deep in the engine, I was wondering if there is maybe a magic trick to get it wound up without opening the cases... any help appreciated!

You are probably in luck here. There is a procedure outlined in the manual regarding setting of the kickstarter return spring tension and you do it simply by having the clutch cover off with engine in situ. I had to do exactly this or my kickstarter flopped about.
