Carb idle

Hi have a 76 gt500 starts great but won't idle have cleaned and set the carbs
Tried to adjust at the handlebars and also carb screws Air etc
Have tried adjusting throttle cable on the carbs themselves still no idle
Thinking I should remove the throttle cable
And try to reset So any feedback on this prob?tis a pain in the rump.
