hello all, im new to the forum. i have a 74 L with 30,000 original miles my dad gave to me. he did not give it to me to ride as i cannot, but to sell. so far i have the bike running and restored, everything is in exellent shape. now for the questions, the bike has a vedder fairing and saddle bags, do these items make the bike worth more, or should they be left off and sold seperate. the fiberglass parts arent in the greatest shape, they were just used items thrown on there for practical reasons at the time. they are repairable, but id like to get the bike itself sold sooner than later and feel unless they make the bike worth a bunch more its not worth it. and what are these bikes going for? ive seen near 4000 in the us and 12,000 in austrailia. im in canada and never see any water buffalos, even bike shops are like huh what? i can attach photos once i get going.

IMO they take away from he bike, I may show a photo with them on and the parts go with the sell but remove for the main photo's and selling of the bike in general. This way if you hit the right buyer who wants the parts on he can reinstall, this way you increase your market of prospective buyers.

How much is the bike worth, depends on condition, cosmetic and running, you will need to post photos. Other than that I can safely say anywhere between 500-5000 dollars. The best is to post when selling and for the forum are nice clear medium size closeup photos to determine cosmetic condition.

Welcome - you've missed adding your location info to your profile, so perhaps you could add that ? Looking forward to seeing some photos of the bike as I have a soft spot for the 1974 model

I suspect you will find that for most potential buyers, the Vetter fairing and bags will not add any value - some folks may actually think it takes value away, but like anything its a personal choice.

sorry about not filling in the location, i was in a hurry. im located in mission bc. about an hour from vancouver. yeah the fairing and bags are a decent amount of work to make look pretty enough to be worth while. right now im just doing the tank paint and side covers. i found that prowler flame orange is almost a perfect match to the factory orange, just without the same amount of flake. unfortunatly i put my finger in the base coat when moving the tank to paint underneath so i have to re-spray the tank. too bad it was perfect otherwise. im not about to sell a bike with shoddy paint work. i need to grab a rad cap cover off ebay to complete the bike, but that easy stuff. when thats all done im hoping the bike can fetch 4k cdn without too much effort. its had a small chain break that damaged the front end. the engine was rebuilt when it was parked back in 1982. the po had parked it outside in the winter with only water in it and cracked the right side cylinder. my dad had suzuki rebuild it by welding the crack and sonic testing it. doesnt even look bad and runs like a top.

It may be too late to try and make it, but there is a huge vintage bike swap meet in Tsawwassen next Sunday - perfect place to try and sell it.

thanks, didnt know about that. unfortunatly its prolly going to be too late. i need some minor details fixed up and i cant get the bike there personally. there may be one at the abbotsford tradex at some point, it seems there always is. im def going to try and market the bike in austrialia tho. the local bike shop here says he can crate it and ship it easily. if i dont charge as much for the bike i think a buyer is more likely to actually buy it from a distance. you want it?? i had to

Slow down a bit. That price you quoted in Australia would have been for an immaculate top of the line bike and was an exception. Average prices are not that high.

Did you post pictures of the bike anywhere?
