Well, you can paint it whatever colour you want.....but if you're looking for the stock colour schemes, then.....
For the T500R, the white on BOTH paint schemes was Egret White #189. The contrasting colour choices were either Candy Jackal Blue #195 (also known as Newport Blue) or California Burgundy #216 (also known as Candy Lavender). Luckily for you, all these paints were used on the 1972 Water Buffalos and there are certainly guys around who have painted THOSE bikes.
The only difference, of course, is the actual physical layout of the paint scheme on the gas tank.
Unfortunately, none of those original paint codes can be translated into any modern paints, so you have to find someone who has done lots of 1972 Buffalo tanks and is familiar with how to mix and apply
the colours you choose.

Hi SV,
I had my 75M painted in the 71R colours with paint from RS.

The RS paint is pricy and you also need to buy the silver base coat for the Candy Lavender.
Cheers Zunspec

Thanks Rick,
The cudos should go to the sprayer Tim of TJC Design (http://www.tjcdesign.com/ )
A good guy to deal with, we are currently puzzling the correct Triumph "Silver Sheene" for the Speed Twin. No BS and a genuine joining of forces to get the best result. As they say "recommended".
Cheers Zunspec

Hi Zunspec
A question on your beautiful paint job the pin stripe is that sprayed on, or a sticker? And should you not put your rev counter cable over the petrol tank cushion, that’s how I have mounted mine not sure if it’s correct but it’s out of the way
Andy

Re: what were the OEM colors Available for a 1971 T500?
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the tip on the Tacho cable, I've been wondering about that
The white pinstriping is sprayed on, when you run a (clean) finger over it you can't feel the join, plenty of coats of lacquer.
Cheers Zunspec

Re: what were the OEM colors Availabel for a 1971 T500?
SV, Verdoro green is a colour listed for 1970 but also sometimes 1971.
I have been looking for a good match for months and I think I have found it,
the Suzuki car division is using it again.
SUZUKI: 2006-7-8 49U Mars Green Effect
I matched the chip to the original colour I found under a respray, the only difference
is now it's base/clear coat and not a single stage.
This pic is one I found on the net and is not mine, the actual colour is a bit darker than it appears here. Hope this helps.
