Suzuki TU 250X

I was thinking of getting a newer bike for a daily rider. I rode the Suzuki TU250X during the MSF safety course, but just riding around a parking lot doesn't tell me much. What concerns me is my GT185: 21 HP, the TU250X: 16 HP. I ride mostly back roads, usually not exceeding 60 MPH. Did anyone here ever ride this bike before? Comments would be appreciated.

A really nice sunny day ride from your area would be the backroads to Somerset or Bedford.
I expect that you would find the TU250X to be too underpowered for the hills on that trip.

Are you considering any of the bikes are around 500cc?

There's really not much that I've found in that size. I will only consider a standard or possibly a dual-sport motorcycle. The reason I'm interested in the TU is I like the seating position, it's fuel injected, and it's a Suzuki. I also saw pictures of the 2015 Yamaha SR400 that's due out, that might be an option. I guess a dual sport has the right engine cc size but after riding 30 years in the dirt I'm really trying to avoid being tempted going back there (my knees just dont like the pounding anymore).

You might like a Triumph Bonneville, but they are a few $k more than the SR400 will be.

That's something else to consider.

The TU is not much better than the GT185, no need to re-invent the wheel IMHO. I too just got a new bike, a Moto Guzzi V7 Classic. Weight and power of a 500 with electric start, fuel injection, and shaft drive. It was either this or a mid 80's BMW R65. The Guzzi was closer location wise, so that's why I ended up with it.

Thanks for the input guys, this past weekend I picked up a 1982 Yamaha Seca 400 (DOHC model), clean with original 5k on the odometer. I'm happy I waited.
