Interesting how motorcycles are going the full circle from almost full tilt street ( roadrace) bikes to a breed that just about looks like earlier days with engines with fins on the cylinders http://adrenalinepowersportsmag.com/201 ... -unveiled/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

I like that a lot. I agree with your comments. Looks like a slightly more modern CBX. While keeping a lot of it's original look. I wonder what the MSRP is ? I'm willing to bet I don't like the modern price.

Dont get me started on that CB1100 again, its got nothing on a Mk1 naked Bandit 12 or Kawi Zephyr, it actually will rob your wallet of money at that ridiculous price.

Nice looking Honda, a style I really could get into but not the Price. I know it is way out of my budget.
Be great if they would bring out a mid-size CB550/600 with the looks of this CB1100 but that doesn't mean I would go out and buy one.

I had a test ride on one of those last year.

Felt like I was perched on a fairly quick 125.

Really small, and for an 1100, lacklustre performance.

I ended up buying an NC750 auto (2017 model) feels more like a bike !!

Thread resurrection time !!!!!

88bhp on an 1100cc fuel injected motorcycle. Is that the best that Honda could do? :wth: Give me a 1200 bandit anytime!

My 40 year old GS1000 has around that kind of power....
And after a total complete redo, I don't have $10,000 in it.

Yeah, it kinda makes you wonder what have Honda engineers been doing for the last 40 years? What hole have they been buried in to think that 88bhp is acceptable for a modern 1100cc bike? It borders on being scandalous!

HP is irrelevant. Torque is the mover. My GSX1400 has 105hp and almost a hundred torques.
Happy at 40mph in 6th and will accelerate smoothly and very quickly to over 140. 9000rpm max, plenty for anyone.

To a point that much is true. Similar to my Bandit 1200, 20-160mph in top gear.
Its impressive having so much torque and I like it, but it is not as much fun as the old RD350 YPVS I used to own.
But I guess that is why you are here too Alan, sometimes you just can't get as much grin factor without a 2-stroke even if it has less bhp and less torque?
Although, your 2-stroke is a lot more special than anything I've ever owned.

(Especially) the 'Earwig' takes me back to when I had my original 550J back in '72 when I was 21. Enough power to scare myself occasionally but not so much that I couldn't recover from an application of youthful lunacy.
Difference now is that the lunacy ain't youthful!
The GSX1400 is arguably more bike than I have the aptitude for nowadays as it seems easier to frit myself with it. Good job the throttle works both ways and the brakes work in a modern way.........

Remember that growing old is mandatory - growing up isn't.
