So true Dave, if you have more than one bike the ultra sonic unit from Harbor Freight is a must have. It cleans the carbs and other small items perfectly.

The new needle jets i installed have me a bit wondering how they are going to work as they are different . The ones that were in the carbs had no shroud at the top in the air stream ( just flat ) where the replacement ones have the half circle sticking up above the floor of the carb intake . Parts list does show these jets were put in the Katana 1100 that uses the same engine and later model GSXR1100 .

Different heights of needle jet outlets change the fuel slope slightly at higher revs for any given throttle opening. So a taller one is richer at higher revs for any given throttle position.

It's more or less the same effect as changing to a smaller air jet on a 2 stroke type needle jet.

#338 series in a GS1100 has a similar tall spray tube but fits the fatter needle and is an X-3 size (3.065mm)

Thanx Richard explaining the difference so i will wait to see if it runs too rich . There have been more surprises to the carbs , i am not sure why but the choke setup is not the stock GSXR design with just a knob and pull rod running across the back of the carbs to open all 4 chokes .. it may be a different yr GSXR set or Katana 1100 as this set of carbs is designed for a cable . Other than that the carbs look stock GSXR 1100 . Rather than switch the carbs around to the stock choke setup.... i purchased off ebay a left hand switch setup for a Katana 1100 that has the choke lever built in it and the gang plug "looks" to be the same as the GSXR except it does have a extra wire bundle with a small (2~3 wire) plug on it .. maybe for a passing light switch ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/360183317553?ss ... 1497.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just did some looking around on Ebay and the carbs i have look like 92 GSXR1100 http://www.ebay.com/itm/92-Suzuki-GSXR- ... b4&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... not ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/USED-1985-1987- ... 4e&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that could explain why the K&N air filters that cam in the box dont want to fit , the 92 inlets are oval shaped :?

I purchased a CDI for the 1100 off Ebay and the seller said good for 750 or 1100 but now i have it and the numbers on it are different , anyone know for sure if this 750 CDI (131100-4641 H ) work on the 1100 ( 131800-0050 L ) ? They look the same and same plugs and color coded wires .. L is the 1100 H is the 750 Image

I did a bit of Google searching and believe the 750 cdi will work in place of the 1100 one .. it looks like the 750 one has a bit of a higher rev limiter and a different advance curve .

I did the mod on the 1100 as its just about the same engine as the 1200 Bandit http://balestech.com/filter.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to allow me to use better than stock Pure One oil filters http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Fi ... OilFilters" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that i also did on my 1200 Bandit .

Dave,

As I understand it, the early GSX-R11's were fitted with flatslide but not 'slingshot' (92) carbs as you've described above.
There's nothing wrong with those carbs, but they are prone to wear in the slide guide, which in turn wears the needles and needle jets with the increased slide movement.

I dunno about the spigots being oval rather than round :wth: , although I know they're a lot larger.

I dont know what kind of soup i have made out of the carbs thinking they were the correct carbs for the yr 861100 and putting in jet kits for the stock carbs . The bike came with K&N filters ( round openings ) that dont seem to fit the carbs that came with the bike ( oval opening ) BTW .. thanx for the reply

Dave, The carbs should have the model number laser etched on body somewhere. It will be something like 35F or whatever and that should help you to identify what they originally came from.
