Deals Gap 2014

Post by Old School »

I have been wanting to attend this event for the past couple years, has anyone here gone? What all type of things are planned, if any? I read that the hotel is booked, does anyone have room or is there another place close by?

Kind of a "Roll Call" so to speak. Who here is planning on going this year?

There are several motels in Robbinsville NC. I've stayed at both the Microtel and the San-Ran several times.

You could try Fontana Resort. They may have some vacancies. Only 8 miles to the Gap.

I always stayed at the San-Ran, nice local people and you can park your bike on the sidewalk in front of your room.

I'm going to try to make it! If it ever warms up! Made it to the freezing point here today and we still have snow!

We are all still here, it is just that most of the action on the meet is at http://kawi2strokes.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; where the rooms are arranged. I will be heading there for the week and will be camping. Lots of good riding, hoping for good weather!

Thanks, I am just wanting the see if anyone here is going, I would like to make it if possible, but I just don't want to be the only one.

Tell me more about the Camping option, If I cab swing it I will most likely be there 2 to 3 days.

Don't worry about being "the only one" there!! I went a couple of years ago, rode down from Toronto Canada, solo, and was surprised to see probably 300 two strokers in the parking lot when I got there!!! I was in blue smoke heaven!
There is camping there. Best to email Deals Gap and inquire about it.
Now stop thinking about going and just GO!! The two stroke meet is great, the roads are even better!!
Here's a link to a video that my son and I did last summer!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdsbUZt_RJY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
We're already planning for our trip down this summer!!

Was going to take my GT500 but I have a clutch issue that just reared its head this weekend! Might get it sorted quickly, if not gotta switch to my trusty RD and slap on the new shoes I just got in. See ya'll there.

I went last year with two Yamaha RDs. I stayed at the campground friday and saturday where all the 2-stroke people talk and discuss bikes. This was my first time back in 25 years, and it has changed drastically concerning the amount of traffic of all kinds, car clubs in particular.
This year I'm going wednesday -saturday to hopefully avoid the car traffic, and will be camping there again. If I remember correctly it was maybe $12 a night, and they have a very nice bathhouse for showers and restrooms.
I'll be taking my GT750 and a Yamaha to ride. You will never see so many really nice 2-strokes in one place, and most of them being ridden. A really cool event.
