Deals Gap KTWW 2012 meet

Post by gyrocfi »

Im confused or maybe just not up to date on the news but will Kawi2strokes and not KTWW be the organizing forum for this years 2 stroke get together? I remember the stink created a few years ago when another forum posted something about the get together?

Yes the Kawi2strokes forum is organizing the Deal's Gap 2- stroke meet. Most of the old forum's most most active members are now on the Kawi2strokes forum. That includes Ric, the meet organizer.

Thanks Frank, will you be bringing your T500 for me to drool over? I have to choose between my GT500 or a RD400?? I might have a small schedule conflict but I will keep my fingers crossed that I can have the whole week free for the get together.

Damn, cant decide!!! Take the GT500 or the Franken400. The GT's great for comfort and long days but the 400 is FUN in the twistys and a blast off the line BUT after 3 or 4 days of 200 mile days I cant feel my finger tips anymore and my face hurts from smiling so much!!

So what ya think??? comfort of bigger fun??

No comments on what to bring? So, I decided to take the GT500, it will be the first time I tow it behind the PC800. It is a little heavier, a bit longer and has a fairing. PC will get a good servicing on the brakes!!

I ended up taking my green JDM bike after all. The red M developed a significant leak in one of the injector lines, so bikes were switched at the last minute. My brother rode his KH400. We stopped at the Gap around midday Saturday and hung out with some of the 2-Stroke Meet gang. There were lots of Kwacker triples, many with interesting modifications. I think quite a few had already headed home after being there the whole week. Over the Gap into Tennessee, we stopped at the junction of Routes 129 and 72 where there were a bunch more 2-strokes parked for a lunch break. We swung back over Route 360 to the Cherohala Skyway and back to Asheville. Weather was perfect, the Gap wasn't too busy and we did 340 miles on 40+ year old 2-strokes. The bikes ran faultlessly. We did have a run-in with the local constabulary on Route 28 on our way to Robbinsville. We argued that 40 year-old bikes could not possibly do that kind of speed, but the officer was having none of it. So we have an appointment with the local Judge in a couple of months.
The two bikes prior to departure from Asheville:

"If I pour gas into this thing, maybe it will grow"....or....."Honey I shrunk the sidecar". This thing has a 40cc 2-stroke motor...what a hoot:

Good to hear the bike ran well Roy - you must be pretty pleased given the amount of work you've put into getting it resurrected ! 8)
