deals gap 2011

Post by james »

i have just booked a spot for my motorhome at the iron horse, they seem to have plenty of room left, i booked the 1st weekend till tues i read that beer was not available in this area, should i bring extra for the guys riding there bikes to the meet who might have a problem strapping a case or 2 on the rack? i have never been before and i am looking forward to it. is there a main meet spot or favorite diner etc. i have ridden the tail but it was lonely roads, it should be fun with a lot of bike,s and interesting people. not to mention the wealth of information and advice available. do they have parts for sale are there vendor,s? i have a spare room in the rear of the motorhome if anybody need,s a place to stay for my term there i dont think my wife and kids will be going. if it helps shoot me a pm

The main meeting area is the Deal's Gap motel at the intersection of Hy 28 and 129.

Iron Horse is not far from Deals Gap and I think they sell beer about half way between the two.

If you head down hwy28 from the Gap there is a place to stop for refreshment and buy beer/hellbender swag. The beer is expensive but available. I enjoy the ride down to Andrews, NC at the bottom of 129 on 19/74 very good Liquor Store there. We use to get beer at a private club I think it is the Dayton Camp outside of Robinsville off Massey branch road but they were closed for renovations the last time I dropped by, might be the place to check?

Anyone else know better places to buy adult refreshments?
