Who from the board is going to the Gap this year and can anyone recommend a place to stay?

I'm thinking of planning a mini vacation at the end of May and might just check out what all the ruckus about the Gap is all about. I'll be "doing the dragon" by car this year, but who knows, next year that may change.

Robbinsville NC is close to Deals Gap and has 4 or 5 motels, I've stayed there many times.

Fontana Village/Lodge is 10 miles away from the Gap. It is very nice with a Lodge and cabins. Many folks who attend the meet stay at Fontana.
Robbinsville is 18 miles from the gap but does have a wider selection of places to stay and eat.

Thanks Barry and Frank. I found a link to Graham county with plenty of moderately priced motels and cottages. I'll have to research it and make a decision. \

Yes I will be there and I suspect there are at least 4-5 others, that frequent this board, that will be going.

We have our place for this years meet, however its way out there in nearby Franklin. We got a really great home located in the mountains so we decided to expand our home base location from the Dragon a bit.
So far we have about 12 people committed to going and besides riding in the nearby areas, we will visit the Dragon to see the 'regulars'.
Theres now only four months left until "DG 2011" from today.

Thanks Two-Stroke-Brit, I hope I get a chance to meet you too. I hope every thing falls into place and I can make it. I'm looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about! I've visited nearby towns but had never heard of DG and the Dragon until I butted up with this forum.

Wow Suzsmokeyallan, 12 people under one roof..... sounds like you guys are going to have a great time. Hope we coincide on the same dates and I get a chance to meet the whole group.

My GT550L and I should be there on Tues. the 24th.! It's only a 1000 mile ride down from Toronto, Canada! Any board members from Ontario want to join me?

Joisey the home we got for this year is ONLY 4000 sq ft small, so we will be living it up for sure.
