DG Meet 2019- dates are 5/5- 5/12

Post by Evans Ward »

This will be the 20th annual Eastern 2 Stroke Meet this year with dates set for 5/5/19- 5/12/19. I’ve been attending for about the last 12 years and have noticed that less and less Suzukis are present over this time span. Seems like from about 2007-2010, there were lots of GT750s and many GT550s too buzzing around the Smoky Mountains. Would be good to see more Suzuki 2 stroke triples and twins there this year. I’m planning on bringing my GT750 and RZ350. There is an announcement by Chris on Kawi2strokes.com about an upcoming room availability official thread later this month for room reservations at DGMR which is HQ for the Meet. Also, many other great places to stay in the area.

Who is planning to come this year and bring a Suzuki besides Lane and myself?

Trying to get my GT500 going! Got a weird rattle in the clutch basket area!! Seriously considering riding the GT up with camping gear ala prior to towing with my PC800! Fingers crossed, the old bugger needs to have its legs stretched again and I miss the sound of that airbox howling at 75mph.

Likely a common problem. See Service Bulletin General-15.

I should be able to be there with my GT750. I’m currently trying to get my recently purchased H2 road ready so I may be able to bring both.

Glad to see some Suzukis coming. Blueboy won't be so lonely! See you there!

Well, it’s looking like my GT750 won’t make the Gap this year as the chrome shop still has my Jemco and has gotten behind due to a couple of their workers recently having surgery. I have the carbs and airbox back on with carbs jetted for the 3-1 so it is on hold. I mounted some mini spools too for a paddock stand since I removed the centerstand but plan to see if I can mod another used CS I have to work possibly with the JEMCO along with farming out welding. Old trusty 72 Kawasaki H2 is prepped and up to going along with my RZ350 for the Gap so all is good.

Interesting. Would like to see a pic of how you mounted the mini spools.

Here are mini spools pics. I placed them above the chain adjusters making sure there was enough clearance. Drilled, tapped, and used a 10mm time sert that the spools thread into. The stand was purchased off Amazon for less than $50 and came with the spool lifts. I also bought some paddle swingarm lifts from same company to use with another bike.

I made it to the Gap with the GT on Thursday and had a good ride. It was really nice to meet up with all the 2-stroke guys again. Too bad it's only once a year to get together.

And a pic from a ride. It's time to do some minor repairs and cleanup on the bike. The cylinder head need changing, a better radiator cover made, some other small things.
