Great thread Evo, and some super pictures of the old bikes. 500 miles is a long test on 40 year old machinery, and it was good to see that nobody had any serious issues.
Are you the Titan rider?.....my sympathies....clip-on bars and stock pegs are a recipe for a back ache in my experience.

Thanks for reading TP.
Yep, I'm the Titan rider. Bought the bike in 1997, put the clip-ons on it (was quite young at the time).
Bought a set of 'superbike' bars for it the day before the ride, but the wife pulled into the garage on her moto as I was about to swap them over. Her comment was "You can't change those bars out, those clip-ons make that bike! Don't be a pansy".
It actually wasn't that bad, as there were only a couple dirt roads...
900 miles in three days, on this bike however, was a bit more than I liked.
That may change as I put another 15 years on my carcass.

A lot depends on your size and shape.....I put clubmans bars on one of my T500's many many years ago, and lasted literally one day before my back submitted. I'm a fraction over 6' and as a skinny youth, was around 11 stone then. It felt to me as though my knees were in my arm pits.
I now have clip-ons on my cafe bike, but with rearsets and a 6 gallon Seeley tank, the position is ok-ish.

I hear what you are saying there! I'm 6'3", so the knees and elbows are sometimes fighting over which goes where!
Dunno if anyone else participated in the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride on Sunday, but a few of us in San Francisco did...
49 Mile Ride happens in the end of October. Don't think I'll be able to finish the GT750 front end for that, so I'll still be taking it slow...
