In need of repairs

A funny thing happened on my way home from a very nice ride in the country. The weather was perfect, the fall colors magnificent, the bike was running like a Rolex, the sun was low on the horizon, and therein lies the problem. I was eastbound with the sun behind me, and unfortunately that same sun was in someone else's eyes, who then proceeded to turn left into my path, and these sorry pictures are the result. Among other things. No broken bones, but lots of trauma and bruising, and yet another great helmet bites the dust. Any body got any cheap V Strom parts kicking around?













No nasty comments
Be aware folks, of the dangers at that time of day when the sun is at your back.
Otherwise, I'm hobbling around like a senior citizen (I qualify for early pension in March) at present, but things are improving daily. Keep the shiny side up, and the big shiny thing in front of you at dusk, whenever possible. Cheers.

sorry to hear about your crash, glad your alright. and remember. bikes can be repaired and replaced. you can only be partially repaired. i had that happen to me at the beginning of the summer but i got lucky and managed to avoid the car. i say lucky cause quite frankly im still not 100% sure how i didnt park my bike in the ladies trunk.

Holy Jeeze Fred, I'm glad you're more or less ok. Thank god you didn't bust any bones. I'm sure your body must be hurting from bruising and shock. Hopefully things will turn out ok and you'll be back out riding soon.

that was a solid hit ,i hope the dent in the tank wasnt from your "pride and joy" acting as airbags.
at least you were wearing good gear.

Thanks for the kind replies, guys. Crap happens sometimes, and we persevere. The tank shot brings all manner of ghastly images to the forefront, but the right inner thigh took the trauma, and made walking and stair climbing a bit difficult, but "the boys" made it through relatively un-scathed. Drove my truck for the first time today, and come to think of it, as I write, it is almost exactly one week since the mishap. One small bit of gratification, the mighty Suzuki hit the guys truck hard enough to render it undriveable, so it had to be towed as well. Small consulation indeed, but I'll take it. Now I just have to rest up and heal a bit more, and try to get back to some normality, life and work wise. But!! It is still a great adventure!! Cheers folks.

not that the situation is funny, but the fact that the guys truck has to be towed because of a bike hit is kinda funny. where did you contact him at?

According to the police report, I hit him on his passenger front fender, probably in the wheel well, as my front tire has some chunks missing from something sharp. I rely on others info on the situation, as I was knocked unconscious, and have no memory of the incident at all. I must have survived, though, or this is one hell of an interactive forum we have here. Cheers.

could you not claim off the insurance?
with that kind of damage I would be weary of repairing it,ie twisted frame etc.
you cant tell untill you jig it.

Just an update on this escapade of mine. Yesterday I received an email from a nice young fellow in Vancouver BC, alighting to the fact that he has a same year V Strom with a sick motor. It's even the same color. He offered it up for very reasonable money, so that I can put my trusty stead back on the road. It has every thing I need in one package without having to look all over the world and deal with fleabay to find it all. So a road trip is on for this coming week, to go out and get it. The government has deamed the bike as salvageable, so I'm determined to continue the adventure on the bike that I have some great traveling memories with. Of coarse, with a little less drama, and a large slice of enjoyment. The Strom is not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure works for me. Cheers.

thats a good news story fred, i would imageine thats quite a time consuming job to swap it all over .
but when you have done it you will be able to almost rival P Miller for ebay sales.
