A day on the GT

We had a perfect spring day yesterday so I offered to give one of my boys a ride to a family get-together in the next town over. Once there we found my brother-in-law had mowed some trails through his back field and was letting the kids ride around on an old Honda MiniTrail, mini-bike, and 2-seat go-kart. The kids were having so much fun and the GT was right there, I couldn't resist starting it up to chase them around the field. Breaking the back tire free while hearing those expansion chambers sing was exhilarating! It wasn't long before I had the back wheel kicked out to the side in 3rd gear. That's when I realized it probably wasn't the smartest thing to be doing with a near 50 year old classic motorcycle so I immediately parked it and just watched the kids have fun. Get me on 2 wheels in the dirt and I still loose all self control. Whenever I give our boys the choice to ride on the GT or my more modern Z900rs they always say "the old one". Every time. That it's been around their entire lives probably has something to do with it but I share their sentiment. :)

That's the same bike the photos are just 9 years apart. A couple years ago I took it down to the frame and went through most everything, including a repaint.

Yours are very nice as well. I especially like the color matched cafe-style windscreen on your center one.
