I thought I had better introduce myself after lurking in the background without joining for a good 12months!
I'm Paul and I'm an alcoholic (oops wrong forum)
I live in the NW of England, and I'm 62. I've been into bikes since the tender age of 11 when I had an old D1 Bantam which I used to ride on fields and the country lanes around where we lived. The bike was hidden in a hedge overnight as my mum & dad didn't approve of motorcycles. As soon as I turned 16 I was on the road legally on a 1963 C92 Honda 125 (couldn't afford the CB92 I really wanted) I went through all sorts of bikes and my first and only new bike and first Suzuki was a 1972 Hustler. All sorts followed including a few Brit bikes, a kettle, a stunning GSXR1100K which was the best and scariest bike I've ever owned, Z1300, GT500's x2 a spell of club racing on an RGV250 and my crowning glory a Suzuki TR500 rep. My current bikes are a lovely old GT750J and a T500K which I'm currently restoring.

You sound like a real character! Welcome and good luck with the knee. I got a kick out of your quote:_____
Those jap bikes are rubbish they won't last five minutes son, get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!
My Dads quote was : "Stock is best" I even had that sticker on a few full blown race bikes. And another quote (my own this time) "Seen it, felt it, ate it" . But that was non bike related.......
