75 Gt500: New replacement carb
I am tempted to try the new replacement carb from eBay.
But want to ask folks here before i buy.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Stock-Motor ... SwNOxbmhc-" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
1. I am facing stuck starter plunger in one carb situation. It is taking longer than expected to take out plunger.
( and my patience is almost running out )
2. So I am trying to decide alternative solution, at least temporarily.
3. Should I just buy this carb and move on?
4. I don't want to replace both carbs if possible, so will there be any problem if I go with just one new carb ( while the other carb is original ) ?
5. Has anybody used this carb? Would you recommend it?
Appreciate any/all help..

Re: 75 Gt500: New replacement carb
I think the difference between that carb and the original would give you very big headaches to match them during set up. In principle it could be done but is just far far too much hassle. Get a new pair and the set-up is much easier.

Use the-pen-is-mightier-than-my-mechanics-skills solution. That’s what I do when faced with problems beyond my meager skill set.
(The pen is what I use to sign the check to pay for the work — it gets a lot of things done that I wouldn’t even try.)
Take the carbs to a shop that works on older bikes. They are used to dealing with all sorts of carb problems.
And don’t go to a new bike dealer —they won’t be interested on working on anything this old.

Re: 75 Gt500: New replacement carb
or soak it for a few more days and if by then, no joy, go ahead and soak in PB blaster for a day....sounds like you have nothing to lose......plunger seal and bore may be already past hope. If all else fails.............which side carburetor do you need? Could be 'nightmare city' if you start trying to make those carbs you are looking at work.
If I were you I would contact this very reputable ebay seller (Keith) and see if he has a single carb VM32SC (assuming you have the stock carbs) whatever side you need that he can list for you on his ebay store for late T500 or your '76 GT500A or '77 GT500B. * You want an externally vented one.* Very reasonable prices. Yes, usually sold in pairs by most but he may have a single you need.......never know until you ask.

Good find. That’s stamped with 15313, which is correct for later T500s & GT500s.dorT500 wrote:Here is a left one ...........

Need to find someone near me ( SFO Bay Area, CA ), as I don't know anybody.jabcb wrote:Use the-pen-is-mightier-than-my-mechanics-skills solution. That’s what I do when faced with problems beyond my meager skill set.

Might take longer to find out..

Will go mostly along the route you suggested above.
BTW, I need to ask Keith about the 'externally vented' specifically ?
Or wil he understand by the year and model number ? ( 1975 GT500 )
Thanks, appreciate it.

Just for my learning, what is special about the external vent in this case?
Are you trying make sure that I order correct one or something else?
Does this mean that there are carb models for GT500 which are not 'externally vented' ?
Just want to understand more..Thanks.

1. Soaked for two days in diesel.
2. Heated (medium heat) on third day and put in diesel for 1 day
3. On fourth day, heated crap out of it! until it turned!
Thank you all so much for your support!
Appreciate it.
