Bluesmokebaz in the UK refurbs them so might be a good starter point.

But an introduction might get you more help. Politeness counts for a lot

Good luck. They are not cheap and it is not easy to find a working set. Guys like me keep snapping them up to upgrade their GT380s. I finally have a good set, but it cost me a lot of dosh. I had to buy two sets to make one good one. What is wrong with the set you have? Is it not repairable?
If you are not obsessed with originality I would suggest it is cheaper to buy a brand new set of similar dimensions. In hindsight I would have saved a bit of money doing that. A set of 3 new flat-slides would have cost about £80 plus the cost of a new throttle cable. The Mikunis cost me over £200 to buy and recon

My GT550 project is going to require a lot of jetting changes to get right. My hope is to have 2 complete sets of carbs so that i can make the jetting changes on the bench and then swap the carb set in with the changes made. 28 mm flat slides might be easier to acquire but would not give me the flexibility that i was hoping to have with 2 sets of stock carbs. Then there's the financial thing. The Canuckbuck isn't worth much these days and C$184 for each Mikuni works up to around C$600 by the time you throw in a throttle cable. I may be driven to purchase these but they are a plan B right now.

And finally, 3 nights ago ,in a bar, over far to much beer, i aquired a 1985 Yamaha V-Max.
I know, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
So finances are an issue until after Christmas.

 Lol. Sounds like a common mistake. Having said that...a v-max is a pretty cool bike too!
You'll just have to find ways to get more money. Can you sell one of your kidneys? I hear you can get a few thousand bucks for one of those. That could be a great christmas and two nicely running bikes!

Hmmm. Bike or booze? That is a very tricky choice. Is life worth living without either? This calls for an alternative plan I think.
Does your wife have life insurance? :)

A gentleman can always find room for both.

Yesterday, with no beer involved, i acquired a Yamaha WR250. No Yamahas' for 20 years, and all of a sudden 2 within a week.
When you are out beating the bushes for GT550 parts and you start chatting with people things just sort of happen.

Bikes or beer(booze sounds so intoxicated)?
You forgot the third "b": broads, although my wife might raise a eyebrow at being called a broad.

Wow, sounds like you have your hands full of Yamahas. You'll have more than enough to keep you busy, without any beer and broads. Best send them to me, to save yourself being overwhelmed.
I'm only thinking of you buddy!
