WANTED URGENTLY - 12 EAR CLUTCH BASKET T500

Post by ChrisK »

As title says, I urgently need a 12 ear clutch basket for my t500 historic racer. I am building up an 8 plate racing clutch and have Barnett plates, only to discover that they are 12 ear and my baskets are all 18 ear. I can't find any 18 ear Barnett clutch plates for sale so I am hoping someone may have a 12 ear basket they will sell me and be willing to express ship to Australia. The bike is entered for the 2016 Island Classic and needs to be completed by Jan 14. Good money waiting, CAN ANYONE HELP?

Hello Chris,

I have a 12 ear basket. I was about to de-rivet the helical primary gear for the rubber gasket that goes between gear and basket as I need it for the NOVA basket when riveting the straight cut NOVA primary. It should be fine if you are also planning to mount your own straight cut (or std. helical) primary gear. Cheaper to ship without the heavy primary gear attached too :D .

If I can be of any help get back to me.

Cheers Geoff

That sounds great Geoff, do you know what's involved in de and re-riveting? Does it need special machine shop skills and where do you get the rivets? Willing to try anything!!

here are the pics. Not exactly sure I want to sell it- would be nice to have a 12 ear spare. Mine is 18 ear, which I understand makes it harder to replace clutch plates. Anyways, let me know.
I just paid $90 for it over the summer (which was too much!). I purchased it by mistake, and later purchased a spare 18 ear one, which I am now using. Let me know.

Hi Chris,

Good to see you have this sorted, I don't think I could have got my bits sorted so quickly. As I am going to use NOVA baskets and straight cut primaries (TR500 spec ratio) in both my engines I will have a std. 12 ear basket with straight cut primaries (T500 spec ratio) going spare. If they are of interest to you let me know.

Cheers Geoff
