JDM = Japanese Domestic Market. Their model designations were different than elsewhere. More details here:

Not for Sale any more: Rare 1974 JDM B-4 Kettle
Mike, thanks a lot for posting this. That bike is in great shape and is the same color as mine. I wonder if he'd sell me the speedo
BTW, I've taken mine off the market and am busy restoring it. The pics from this posting will be a great help.

Re: For Sale: Rare 1974 JDM B-4 Kettle
It was an interesting story around this purchase. She was on the local version of ebay for a while - described as a 1978 GT750 - and noone was really interested. There was a bit of debate on the auction site by the "experts" about the stated year versus colour etc. I think the current seller got her for a relatively good price (well, by our standards
). A while later he rang me to try and clarify just what he'd bought as he realised the stated dates didn't fit with brochures etc he'd come across. After a bit of a chat, I was able to establish it had the idiot light and then the bracket for the headlight so got him to go back and check the frame numbering ... and voila. She ended up being a nice little score for the guy. However, he doesn't seem to be interested in the fact it's a bit "different" beyond it hopefully being a selling point for him. I tried to get him to keep her for our classic bike show that's coming up but he's keen on getting a GT500. Hmmm ... no accounting for taste I guess

If you want to see eye watering prices then this is an interesting place to visit:
http://motorcycle.goobike.com/motorcycl ... mmary.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
These are Japanese market models for the most part (look at the gauge clusters), although I suppose some could be imports that have been converted. I check the siote on an irregular basis looking for better examples of original JDM market paint samples. The model years listed for the most part are incorrect, but note the split head for a mere $14,980 in USD - its a bargain compared to the J going for $26,820 !

So ... the question is: Do they sell any at those prices and then if so, who the heck stumps up that sort of cash?
That is pretty big dosh for a motorcycle
