1972 TS90 Suitcase Cycle Tank Emblem

Post by cplonske »

Wondering if anyone knows of where to find or even have made a tank badge/emblem for a 1972 TS90 Suitcase Cycle? The tank badging would say "suitcase cycle". Thanks

Try the company that made them first!

Welcome to the forum.

My first reaction was WTF. But the 72 TS90 Suitcase Cycle is real. They were TS90s conversions by the Suitcase Cycle Company.
See: https://www.mecum.com/lots/LV0117-26254 ... -suitcase/

The “suitcase cycle” looks like it’s a decal. Given some good pics & a tank with white stripe, you should be able to have a reasonable replica made.

Are you restoring a TS90 Suitcase Cycle?

The original company is long gone to my understanding.

The tank is a standard 72 TS90 tank with the 2 screws that go into the emblem.

Yes, I am restoring one of these. I have it complete and running, including all storage bags and the plastic tote for loading it onto a plane (or boat). It's a unique find.

See the pic of the tank. It has an indented area for the badge. May be have one 3D printed?

I don’t remember these from my youth and it is unique. I did some reading on links listed at Wikipedia. Are you a pilot too?

No, not an airplane pilot. Only pilot of classic 2 strokes...HA

My understanding is that there were between 1000 and 2000 total Suitcase Cycles produced between Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha brands. I don't know how many Suzuki's were produced in the few years they were offered.

Some useful pics on eBay.
TS90 gas tank with badge: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314053545319
TS90 gas tank without badge: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183838449876

So the TS90 has a recessed area for a screw-on badge.

This listing for a TS50 shows what Suitcase Cycle did. They used a decal badge that fits in the recessed area for a “Suzuki” badge.

A correct-looking decal style badge would not require 3D printing. I've not had any decals made, but there should be lots of shops that can do that for you.
