Mick, Motion Pro makes a universal drive wire replacement kit that comes with one end factory squared to fit your clock and the other end meant to be cut off to the correct length. Also included are a variety of engine side ends for the cable and a clever little "squeezer" thingy for staking the end of your choice onto the cable by using a vise.
Most back street shops can get these kits for you.

Well after some detective work on ebay and Crooks it would seem that the tacho cable on my bike was a non standard /kettle cable,
it was a good 7" shorter than a genuine Suzuki item, maybe off a smaller Suzuki?,
anyhow new cable fitted and all is well, just need some decent weather for the weekend and i'll be smokin
, cheers Mick.
