Something similar has been going on for a several years now. Where algae is grown in vast quantities and supplied as a fuel source. At times, I ponder on the thought that perhaps if I live long enough. I may see the end of the mass produced combustion engine. But, I feel that there is too much current power involved in oil and that power is going to cripple any reality of those things happening anytime soon. That's been proven time and time again. However, I work in the natural gas industry and I have already seen the largest of coal producers starting to invest in natural gas and reducing their own production of coal. The government has shut down coal burning power plants all over the country. I live near one that had been in production for several decades. The federal government invested billions of dollars to clean the emissions on that particular plant just 3 years ago by installing scrubbers that act much like an automobile's catalytic convertor. The government shut it down permanently due to those scrubbers not being effective as planned. The outcome of where and which resources of energy will rule within the next 20 years will be very interesting to see where things land. I don't have faith that our government will do what is honestly best for most of us. Something needs to change quickly, our country is an economic disaster.
