Another interesting comparison + an important lesson.
Fifth Gear TV show comparison of BMW M1 35i vs. BMW S1000RR HP4

Bike beats car in two out of three challenges.
But these is an important lesson for bikers. The car easily out stops the bike.
Something important to remember when you are riding in traffic, and especially so on your vintage bikes.

On dry surfaces in a straight line a savvy rider can modulate the brakes better by "feel" than shown in that video with the ABS on. Of note he had the bike more on the front wheel with the back wheel lifting up a few times, and that alone reduces the total braking effect distance.
The launch control feature when applied did not look too good either in the video, it was more like a clutch dump in second gear and then a throttle lag.

I think Mr Davies was mucking around at the start of the racing lap against the BMW M1. At 320 bhp, there is no doubt that it's a lively car, but from nothing, on the straight, the bike will absolutely slaughter it. I think he hung back to make it look like a race, rather than just buggering off. The car is most likely to be competitive at higher speed, but look how quickly the bike went by even when the car got up to around 130 !
I have always had powerful cars, and inevitably ended up in dices with the odd bike......on one occasion, I had a brief run in with an old blade, 93 ish, when in the BMW 540 I had. 290 bhp car v 120 bhp bike, accelerating from around 40 ish.......car came second....very second.
