But will it make a difference? Too much money been spent on it for any benefit to motorists by cutting back now.

Time will tell of course, but holding the blend at 10% and even decreasing it is I think better than pushing the level to 15%. It has never made sense to me to convert food into fuel and by doing so distort the global market in edible grains and livestock feeds. Far smarter to increase engine efficiency, go electric, go hydrogen and/or convert materials into fuel that would otherwise be waste. And in the interests of full disclosure - yes, I did retire from an oil company, but other than that my kids think I'm a nice person.

Ian very good news indeed...in Australia we have ONE Company only who supplies the ethanol for the Petroleum Companies, the Manildra Group..

They must be making a fortune with no competition to worry about ! The amount blended here is 10% currently & is only used in 91Ron unleaded,so we have a choice at most Service Stations of E10 91, 91unleaded & 98 premium unleaded,Diesel & LPG.The amount of blended Ethanol fuels is controlled by the Australian Government,NOT the individual States or Territories.BP developed a fuel called Opal in 2005 for use in Indigenous areas of Australia due to the problems of petrol "sniffing" to gain a "high" as in drug use from the fumes!,very sad situation, but unfortunately true ! Ethanol in our 91ron fuel here has caused problems with lawn mowers, older cars & bikes, attacking internal rubber components...not to mention how this fuel attracts moisture & having to use MORE of it to cover the same distance running on "straight" 91unleaded.I have a Service Station next door to me,at the moment there is only a 2 cents a litre difference between E10 91 & "straight" 91 unleaded, why would you buy the E10 91, at this price difference! Unless people have been brain washed into thinking they are "saving the environment" !!!

Cheers,
