does any one know if Honda use the same frame from 69 to 78 on the K models?
I can't find any details other than this...
The single overhead cam models were produced from 1969 through 1978.[16]

1975 CB750K5 (US-only, K2/K4 elsewhere), CB750F, CB750A (Canada-only)[17] The 1975 CB750F had a more streamlined look, thanks in part to a 4-into-1 exhaust and cafe style seat with fiberglass rear. Other changes included the use of a rear disc brake and a lighter crankshaft and flywheel.

I believe not, John. For sure the 77/78 frames will be different as there were substantial changes
to the K bike for those 2 years compared to earlier models. The biggest change was use of a 17" rear wheel.......but there were other changes:

1) Ignition switch was no longer mounted down on the top left frame tube but was moved up
to sit between the clocks on the top tree.

2) The whole dash and clock setup was new.

3) The seat was completely different AND it was hinged on the opposite side compared to the earlier models.

4) The hoop for the rear fender attachment at the rear of the frame was different......and MIGHT
have been moved slightly compared to the earlier frames. You'd need both frames side by side to
check this point, though.

5) The oil tank and side covers were different from the earlier models.

I'm sure there are MANY other differences but the above list is what comes to mind immediately.

I'm only interested in the back end of the frame.
apparently the early models up to K 1? same handle is used.
these are I believe long type of tubing that you grip the side unlike the wrap around ones like below.
and from K2,3,4,5 are the same short grab rail
now 78 model has a long rail but I don't know if this will fit the 76,77 models to?
that is what I'm trying to find out.
up to now Suzuki grab rails are best sellers unlike Kawasaki which are crap sellers so I want to move away from them and try others.
I've a couple of enquiries about Bennelli sei 750 grab rails but cannot find any grab rails to copy off.
just got the GL1000 grab rail which Dj kindly got for me.
none of my formers will do so I have to get a new one made.
12" dia x 80mm width aluminium and then I have to get it machined down to 60mm width and a 19mm groove.
no doubt by the time its made it'll cost me about £250!
just hope it'll be worth while. the last 2 good grab rails on ebay fetch £136 and £156!
already have an order for one.

My post may have been confusing, now that I've reread it.

The 1977 and 1978 K frames will be identical, IMO.

The 1969 through 1976 frames AT THE BACK END will PROBABLY be the same.....but I wouldn't swear to it. I would need to have a few examples to really compare them. I'll look around and see what I can see and let you know how I make out.

As to the wraparound rail: My K6 (Honda in North America calls it a K76) DID have such a wraparound rail. I'll have to check and see which other years used such a thing.

OK...some checking reveals that the K1 through K5 also used A grab RAIL......and it APPEARS that they were all the same....and the K6 used the same rail, so that's good.....but I'd be careful
about the K1 rail. The K1 used parts from the earlier K's but also started using NEW parts that were carried over through to the K6. I can find a part number for the K2 through to K6 rail....but no part number for the K1 rail. Strange.....but I'd be cautious about promising a rail for the K1 without actually checking a K1 frame against a K2-K6 frame.

The early K's (1969 and 1970) definitely had only a grab HANDLE though.

just bought this grab rail..

the seller claimed for K2,3,4,5.
I do have a rack and a home made rail which I copied off a customers for a k6 and it looks the same. will know for sure when it get here from the USA.
on another forum some guys claim that from 69 to 76 share the same frame mount.
the only difference is the rail itself but the mounts are the same.
the 69,70,71 and earlier 72 models did not have a grab handle but lift handle.
some later 72 models did have wrap round grab rail.
from what I can gather from 72 through to 77 share the same grab rail.
the 78 model has a similar but longer rail.
between the above around 75 etc you got super sport which just had a long tube on either side.
in 79 it changed completely bigger tank,tail piece still has a grab rail but more squarer shape.
80 super dream came so that was the end of that chromed grab rail except some custom models.
learnt quite a bit these last 2 weeks!

Kawasaki 2 stroke rails sales have been very poor lately so I need to move onto others.
Laverda's sales are poor too.
the only ones that are good is Suzuki especially the GT750 grab rails.. I make 5 and they've gone within a month.
since january I've sold about 30 or more!
T500,380,550 have been good sellers to ,the 250 started off well but the last month or so hardly any sales.
also sold a mixture of others inc one offs.
I'm also lookinto making early benelli to.
just did my tax returns for last year and got a surprise in how much I made but I aint gonna tell on here

all k series frames are the same but different too the F series
