I an curious if anyone has a historic/authentic license plate on thier bike.

It looks like in Michigan they are two differnt things. An "Authentic" is a genuine state of Michigan issued plate (Ebay)that can be used if it is the same year as the motorcycle (much more attractive than a new "historic vehicle" plate). There is a $35.00 once time fee, they its good to go for as long as you own the bike.

Only thing is it can't be used for general transportation- only bikeshows, touring, etc. I'm thinking where ever I ride a GT550 its gonna be a bike show!

Im not really interested in the money saving, I think the old plate looks better on it.

Anyone else run one or have any problems?

In the UK the reg. plate changed from the old type

to this type on january 1st 1973

But the 'old' type is legal to use normally, not just for shows.
I can't see how they can prove you aren't going to 'show it' down at the shopping mall or beach in your locality.

I have the original 1968 license plate for my 1968 B100P, I wanted to use it on my restored B100P as it has the year on it but the MTO here in Ontario requires you to send it in to verify that it is in good condition and can be used. Then they would like a fee of $251.00 to use it, same rate as personalized plates here, for that price, I decided it wasn't worth it.
