Hello all, Just joined the forum as I have just got myself a 1976 GT500. I was kind of cajoled into it by a couple of friends.
I have a 1992 Moto Guzzi 1000s and a 1965 BSA A65 Lightning Clubman and was looking for another bike maybe to work on and they talked me into getting a 2 stroke. I haven't ridden a two stroke since 1976 when I sold my Hustler and was not too sure about it so I didn't want to get one that would require work so took my time and got, what seems to be, a very, very nice GT500. However I will need to learn all about riding and maintaining a two stroke as it's that long since I did either.
I have restored a good number of bikes over the years, 4 Commandos, my L/Clubman, a TX650, a few others and a £75 Guzzi Le Mans 1, so working on it if need be should be ok once I get the hang of the ins and outs of it. Looking forward to getting out and about on it, but it's pouring down at the moment and I'm off on holiday on Friday, so it might need to wait 'til I get back.
I live in Glasgow, Scotland, so have some nice roads not too far off. My family comes from the West coast of Scotland, so I head up there quite often and it's usually on my bike so will look forward to taking the Suzuki up soon.
Anyway swift intro as was suggested on registration page, I'm sure I'll get a lot out of the forum.
Cheers
Robert

Great start I think I may have put this in the wrong section, feel free to move it!

Thanks for the welcome, here are a few of pics as requested.
Not taken by me, but by the guy I bought it from.
Have already asked a question re oil pump lever marks in 'street' section, it's just me wanting to make sure something is right, and there's probably nothing wrong!.
Going to put on a new front tyre, worn Avon speedmaster on it just now, I have a spare one of these tyres, or is there a better fitment, there is a new TT100 on the rear?

Hiya Robert welcome to the forum.
saw your bike on ebay listing and I would've bought if I had the funds
yes you've certainly come to the right forum as Titan performance said.
it can be addicted I've tried leaving but keep coming back.
I've had several two strokes.
the one in my avatar was my last and regretted selling it ever since even though I was warned!!

Thanks guys, I was surprised myself when it arrived. I doesn't look like I'm going to get out on it before I go away on Friday as I have spent the afternoon and part of this evening trying to mop up after the rain, luckily it didn't get in the garage, and tomorrow is to be very wet also, so it's something I can look forward to on my return.
I really want to like it as it's a nice looking machine and sounds well, but not having had a two stroke for so long I'm a wee bit apprehensive.
In an earlier post I mentioned about a Avon Spedmaster front tyre, as that's what's on it just now but needs replaced, and I have a spare one, any thoughts?
It's smoking a wee bit on start up with the right hand being slightly more smokier than the left, but from what I'm reading on here the bike needs a good warm up then it should clear, it hasn't had a chance for good warm up yet as I can't get it out.
Cheers
Robert

Welcome to the forum. I too have a '76 blue GT500! This is the best forum for help and parts, next to Ozbook in Australia. One of our members in France makes reproduction fork boots that are of excellent quality, with some assistance from a UK member, I can produce a inexpensive CDI box, the plans are also posted on this forum for those who wish to build it themselves. I wished mine looked as good as yours.

Nice bike. Rain on the west side of Scotland - that I remember only too well from my days at Rolls Royce a few decades ago.
