I have a dilemma on my hands. I'm trying to convert all my old 8mm video tapes to digital. The problem is my old Canon crapped out on me. It won't record, it won't play, as a matter of fact, it won't even turn on. The batteries are very old, but I have an AC adapter for it. Still wont turn on. It operates on 6 volts. I thought maybe the adapter went bad, but I checked the voltage at 6.72. So I know this is not the problem. Soooooooooooo
Does anyone here have an old working 8mm camcorder I could use as a player, or even an old 8mm VCR? There are plenty on ebay, but anything worth buying is way over priced - especially since I only need to use it once. ANYONE? I am willing to buy!

Might be worth considering one of the companies that converts film & video tapes to digital.

A relative used a company to convert old family movies to digital -- it turned out nicely. These companies are most likely using much better equipment & will get better results. Don't remember the price, but it seemed quite reasonable at the time.

Hasnt Walmart been advertising about converting tapes to digital .

They also have a range of software/hardware to convert the signal so you can burn a DVD on your own PC.

Chris, I have a Sony CCD TR416 that you are welcome to borrow if that's of any help. I don't have the output cord for it though. If you have a cord, you're welcome to borrow it before I put it on ebay.

I just had some 8mm home movies put on DVD by 'Just8mm.com'. Check them out. I think they can do what you want at a good price. For my 3" reels it was $7.95 each.
