You have to really be prepared for this leap of faith.

Hey Mark I'd like to try that, BUT I'd have to be in there with a group of people skilled in mountaineering/climbing etc to have a go once its been set up.
If you watch the video and listen carefully, at times when they first jump you can hear the wind speeding up in frequency as they free fall down. Looking at the cam footage I'd hazard a guess they briefly reach speeds on the first swing of around 60 mph, if not a bit more, depending on the persons weight.
The best view in the video to me is of the guy on the far end of the first swing out where hes just in the transition zone, shown at 1.46
Because the rope is wrapped around under the arch it does not give you much of a free fall jerk but can actually speed up your momentum shown by how high they go on the first swing out which is approximately 130 feet off the ground.

hey allan i posted it to my brother who does a lot of climbing in scotland and italy (mostly iceclimbing).
he said the crew he goes to italy with are wanting to go to utah .
(arches National park i think).
the funny thing is he is a 'HEALTH AND SAFTEY OFFICER" in his regular job.
and he has allready started to plan a "big swing" off a local bridge with his chums.
and dave i think that would be classed as a "vapor trail".
i did a "charity" parrachute jump once .and what they dont tell you is there approximatly 120 feet of chute and static line before it opens . most people have not experianced falling that distance ,on purpose.
its a long way and seems to take forever before it jolts you and hopefully you see that beautifull hankercheif retarding your decent.
dont know if i have the "nads" for it now tho.
cheers mark
