Just bought a 77 suzuki GS750E from a guy who advertised the bike on craigslist, he was given the bike three years ago so he was not the original owner. It's been sitting in his shed for over three years. I bought the bike with no title for $100 (bike in rough condition) plan was to turn it into a cafe bike. I went to AAA today found out bike was last registered in 2008 and to register it in my name I would have to pay close to $600 in back fees.
How long would I need to leave the bike un-registered before it goes out of the California system? In other words out of the system
Any other way to have DMV drop the back fees as the seller of the bike did not disclose the back fee issue.
Thanks Rob

Re: Back Fees
OK so that's not a great deal. Now you want to get rid of it.
If you were to sell that bike to someone in another state and at some time in the future bought it back again and transferred it into your name in CA, what would the total cost of that be?
