Calling out to the UK/Irish crew......I grew up in Dublin, Ireland, and I was an avid reader of Bike Magazine (UK) for many years back in the 1970s. I have this strong recollection of reading an article in one issue about a custom bike with a GT750 motor in a Bimota frame. I have searched high & low to try to find this article but no luck. Perhaps I dreamed it up, but I thought I would put it out to see if anyone remembers this?

I know there was a one that was dropped into a DRESDA frame. I have no recollection of a BiMoTa

Dim recollections I know, but I think it was a one-off custom project by someone in the UK. It wasn't Bimota themselves.

Bike magazine did a series on fitting a GT motor into a Dresda frame. To add to Pedro's comments, there were several articles on S&L bikes including the first one that reportedly was a a Nico Bakker frame though it is very different to every other frame that Nico built.

TZ.....thanks for the post and the link to the Kettle Club articles. Reading those old Bike magazine articles was quite a nostalgia trip! However, I did not have any glimmers of recognition related to the article I had in mind. Maybe I did dream it up after all....wishful thinking!

If it wasn't the S&L it must have been the articles in BIKE where they fitted a GT750 motor into a Dresda frame. I have been unable to locate that one on the web so far. I'm sure I have a hard copy (remember them) somewhere.

I just found this thread now. I am currently building a Bimota HB1 replica with a GT750 engine, just to make your dream come true - when this discussion started on this forum I had no plans to do so. I also found no information that this has been done before. I need to point out that my frame is obviously not an original BIMOTA frame but a very good copy made by a dutch artist. I only had to sacrifice the swingarm pivot location a bit due to the width of the GT engine vs. the CB 750 engine.
