classic bike show pics

Post by johnakay »

scorching day yesterday at the VJM show at Lotherton hall.
a good turn out to.
few more bikes and things than last year.
all being well I shall be putting up my stall there to next year.
this sort of rekindle my interest in old bikes again.

Awesome, thanks for sharing them John. Love to see bikes from other parts of the globe - even a coupe of Kwakas to show you aren't biased! Don't believe for a second those pics were taken in old Blighty though - last time you had sun like that was in "the summer of 76" wasn't it??

Oh, the summer of '76 ... when I was a fresh-faced 21-year old enjoying my new T500M!!

Wish I'd known about the show John, I'd have popped over to see you. Took Suzi down to Cadwell Park on Saturday, where some old Ducati Sporting Club friends were on a trackday. A couple of pics from the day, including the "sister" 748R to the one I bought new in 2001 - my pal Guy still uses his every day for work, and trackdays too!

the show is on the 29th of july for you UK guys.
I've had stalls up in the past so I'm used to dealing with joe public.
just selling wrought iron stuff etc.
I use to got to farmers/country fairs to sell my stuff.
money was tight in those days with little kids and a biggish mortgage.
so I used to sell what ever I could so that we could take the kids on hols.
my kids are in the picture to

got all my kit loaded up into the car and setting off at 7am.
I dont expect to sell much but getting notice will help.
I have over 400 business cards......
will take some pictures.
my stall will be basic for now and we'll see how things go from there.
if it goes well I will try and improve the front for next year.
quite possibly do some more shows in the future.john

Got a new clutch cable fitted to the GT380 during the week, so we've just been out for a run to test it.

Stopped at Wrawby Windmill, which is only about 10 miles from us, and was originally built in 1760, although it's tucked away off the main road, and I've never visited it before.

Image

Only open on Bank Holidays though, so we ventured on to Mount Pleasant Windmill at Kirton-Lindsey, which is still working producing organic flour & bread, and has a good tea room :-)

Howdo Mr Cullen  and HUGE apologies to you and to everyone else, I've not logged on for a year or so   It's been a horrendously busy year for me, but I'm resurfacing now.

Yes, of course it was Wrawby Mill, I used to live not far away (Broughton, then Barton) now back in Yorkshire 8)

If you're a Rhencullen-type person (and who isn't) then you need to know about the auction of TT Memorabilia going on at the moment. I've bid on the corner signs for Ballaugh and the Hairpin, but they both went into four figures so I stepped smartly aside

I managed to bag the 37th Milestone sign this weekend, and I'm bidding on the Union Mills corner sign at the moment.

Bid away, folks, these are genuine TT artefacts and will be an essential on any self-respecting enthusiast's workshop wall. What's more (this is for the wives) they will be appreciating assets 8)
