Bike Vacation

I have fell in with another good bunch of bikers for a Deals Gap vacation.
Some friends of mine are members of

We went down 28 yesterday for lunch in Geogia, 280 miles. Shorter day today around a 100 miles thus far. Only one incident so far. One guy ran out of the road and over a bank due to road debris, no injuries, just cosmetic damage to the bike. After we pulled it back up to the road he started it up and rode it home.
Life is good.

It wouldn't be a Katana rally without at least one person hitting the dirt (I'm guilty myself). I used to be pretty active over there and was a moderator on KatanaPlanet, which was the predecessor to Katriders. It is a good group people. Stay safe and have fun.

Total has now worked it's way up to three riders meeting the road. Still no significant injuries to either riders or bikes.

The video sure shows the classic example of a Gap crash , when riding thru that kind of twisty roads you have too look thru the turn , if you look where you are going the chances of running off the road are great . So if you make a visit to that area practice looking thru the turn .

Dave, you are exactly right. That rider looked at the outside and didn't want to go there and the more he stared at teh place he didn't want to go, the more he was locked onto that trajectory.
Simple drill. Put a 2" square or duct tape somewhere in an empty parking lot. Ride toward that duct tape and look for it. Try not to hit it. It's almost impossible. The harder you try to avoid it, the more likely you are to hit it - because that's where you are looking.
Do that a couple of times to confirm the hypothesis.
Then ride toward it an look say 6" or a foot to the side of it - where you do want to go. And see how easy it is to avoid it now.

Pretty much sums up what happened in my opinion also. It didn't help that was from Florida, and was not used to that type of road.
